We have known that a union was organized before in Araneta Center. There was even a strike by a union of security guards.
But what happened?

Employees of Araneta Center, Inc. (and the Araneta Group which includes the employees of Progressive Development Corporation, Philippine Pizza Inc. and UNIPROM working on Taco Bell, Ticketnet, Araneta Coliseum and other smaller entities) DO NOT HAVE A VOICE. There is no union to fight for our rights. 
There was an attempt to organize a union several years ago, but the management was able to suppress it. (We are inviting somebody to write about it).
Thus, this webpage will serve as the VOICE OF THE EMPLOYEES OF THE ARANETA CENTER AND THE ARANETA GROUP.
Everybody is welcome to post his/her comments, suggestions, complaints.

TAGA ARANETA CENTER KA BA?![]()
Ito ay isang panawagan sa lahat ng nagtatrababaho (at maging sa mga dating empleyado) sa Araneta Center at sa buong Araneta Group na sumali sa ating pag-uusap tungkol sa ating kalagayan at naging kalagayan bilang manggagawa.
Kung may alam ka rin na katiwalian na ginawa ng management ng Araneta Group na sa tingin mo ay may epekto sa atin bilang mamamayan at bilang Pilipino tulad na lang ng hindi tamang pagbayad ng buwis ng Araneta Center at buong Araneta Group, o kaya ay pagsusuhol sa mga taga BIR, maari mo ring ipahayag dito.
Sa pamamagitan ng website na ito, nais din nating maipaabot kay Mr. Palengke (Senador Mar Araneta Roxas), kung ano ang mga nangyayari sa mga empleyado ng mga kompanya na pag-aari ng kanilang pamilya. (Para sa hindi pa nakakaalam, si Senador Mar Roxas ay anak ni Judy Araneta Roxas na kapatid ni Jorge L. Araneta at ni Maria A. Fores). Inaasahan natin na sa pamamagitan ng ating mga boses, pwedeng patunayan ni Senador Mar Roxas kung siya ay talagang maka Pilipino at nagsisilbi sa mga maliliit na tao tulad nating mga empleyado ng kanilang kompanya. (Alam naman namin na naghahangad din si Senador Mar Roxas na maging Presidente ng Pilipinas).

Kaya, halina at ipahayag ang iyong reklamo at saloobin!. Huwag mangamba. Hindi malalaman ng management kung sino ka.

based from wat i used to hear about the union established years ago, which was headed by security dep’t, it was a failure due to management gameplan on how to suppress and eventually kill the last frontier of the araneta employees. as the gameplan was executed, management has come to see the victory.
accdg. to the people i used to meet everyday, guards were victims of an abundant celebration and was set-up to demmoralize and annihilate their common goal.
RBC was 1 of the masterminds. it was a conspiracy therefore to destroy the people behind this act.
accordingly, management caused a celebration and invited guards to enjoy the night. they all got drunk. afterwards, they realize that it was planned ahead to extinguished them from work inorder not to pursue their plans of pursuing the establishment of labor union.
some other significant entities who led the group were paid by management to turn the union upside down…
too good for them in a short time, but i think it was a mistake they would never forgive themselves.
it is them that they initiated the move and it was in them that they ended the goal…
let me just u one thing, why was pizza hut was able to win the union against management???
what is in pizza hut that araneta center do not have?
is it the toppings of their pizza supreme?
this is not a kiddie game once you were given a ‘lollipop’ and asked u to stop from what u r doing, u’l follow…
my gudness, if anyone of us is not sure to handle the pressure as the union goea along with trials, definitely nobody is entitled to be called pillars of the labor union…
let us just ask ourselves, ‘are we ready enough to take the challenge?’ if not, what is the use of doin’ ol the stuffs like this?

ano na nga ba ang nangyari? base din sa mga kwento kwento. nabayaran nga ang ibang taong nag balak mag tayo ng union. e nasan na ba yun mga nabayaran? yumaman ba kayo? andyan pa din kayo sa araneta patanda ng patanda. hanggang mapalitan na kayo ng mas bata.
asan na ba ang mga kilalang activista ng araneta?
WALA NA! nag alisan na. karamihan sa kanila nangibang bansa na. karamihan din sa kanila nasa malalaking kumpanya na at pinag tatawanan na lang ang mga naiwan na kawawa sa araneta.
karamihan naman sa empleyado sa araneta mahihina. matatanda na. wala na halos natirang matatapang.
wala ng mangyayari sa araneta. lalamunin na lang ng management ang pagkatao ng bawat empleyado. tatapak tapakan na lang nila ang bawat empleyado hanggang ang empleyado na lang ang suko.
marami naman talagang katarantaduhan ang management. kayang kaya nila gawin kahit anong gusto nila.
yun pms bonus? naramdaman nyo na? hindi nyo pa nga natatanggap e ipinang utang nyo na kagad. BAKET?
ipinaglaban ba kayo ni RBC? JMS?
ahhh…HINDI di ba? kasi hindi nila kelangan ang pera.
hanggang walang nag re reklamo hindi sila kikilos. hanggang walang nag dedemanda…wala silang gagawin…
BAKET??? aba, ang laki kaya ng mga directors bonuses…hindi nila kelangang ilakad ang pms nyo…
sa madaling salita. walang pakelam ang management sa mga empleyado…

kay ‘alipin’, tama ang mga sinabi mo. hindi ka off-topic. ngayon nga lang natin nailalabas ang ating mga hinaing at mga problema.
ito ay isang paraan para marinig tayo. boses nga natin ito. kailanga nating maiparating sa management na tayo ay hindi nila kailangang laitin na lang at hindi tayo kikibo.
if we need to organize a union, we don’t need the activists or the KMU. we only need ourselves. be counted….
sa mga taga aci. gumaya kayo sa amin. may union na kami sa pizza hut.

Unang una po sa lahat..malaki ang pasasalamat ko dahil mabubuksan na ang kabulukan ng management ng Araneta lalo na ang Queen of Darkness na si JMS…Ipaalam lang po natin sa lahat ng tao sa buong pilipinas lalo na ang DOLE at BIR sa mga kabulastugan na nangyayari sa loob ng araneta center inc…
May panawagan lang po ako sa mga may alam sa IT na tulungan natin magkaroon ng access ang mga empleyado ng araneta sa kanilang internet, dahil di na daw nila makita o mapuntahn ang website natin..pls lang po..alam kong madaming magagaling na pilipino na kayang makapsok sa website ng araneta para po matulungan natin ang mga empleyado dun…
As the old saying goes, there are no tyrants where there are no slaves. The last attempt to put up a union failed because many employees do not want to venture out of their “discomfort zone”. Pinakape lang sa board room bumigay na. Ginawa lang supervisor in rank, quits na. The last time I heard, the freedom to organize was still a basic constitutional right. Lumaban kasi kayo. Huwag mag-maang-maangan at magbulag-bulagan. Kayo din, patuloy na mababawasan ang kakarampot ninyong retirement pay ng “PMS advances”. Learn to give respect and dignity to yourselves. Makibaka! Huwag matakot!
I have longed for a company that is composed of an organization that will help each and every employee to meet their goals. regardless of any goals… be it on a personal level.
after which i graduated by the year 2004, i was too afraid to face the reality that after sweating hard to finish my education. eventually i must have to open and initiate to step forward for another phase of my life… “the professional chapter..”
i used to ask myself then… what can i offer to the company… am i ready enough to venture in the real society that i was continually realizing how it works…
until such time i came to araneta and i was too thankful that it was araneta which had given me the opportunity to explore the side of employment phase…
at first, i was too proud that i was able to penetrate a company that has set a very good background and has established itself that it will exist from generations to generations…
yes, indeed, we can never deny the fact that araneta is araneta… various business/corporate establishment fail from time to time yet araneta was atop… why?
i believe the labor force must be the first group to be thank for. why? another why???
it is the people behind araneta that gave araneta a name…
we work for araneta and we ventured to meet the vision of this company… in that sense, we succeeded… hurray for the people like us…
however, have we asked ourselves, “are we happy for the company?” some may say yes, others may say no….
to sum it all, we have the common goal and we do it because of the thing we call advancement…
yet, personal development, practically and reality wise, is what every employee needs. that is why we call professional interest dynamic… we develop we get matured and we get improved due to our goals..
friends, admit to ourselves that aside from the goals for the company, we do likewise wish for career dev’t…
isn’t right???
nevertheless, we must have to consider other employees…
time and again, we usually see these greed and self-centered people who wud be willing to put others at stake and wud destroy their friends inorder to achieve their personal desires. they are like trash used by the company and when the company doesn’t need them anymore, they will be thrown to nowhere…
ask ourselves again… “who are we?” a self-centered and greed individuals? or the other way around????
while in araneta, without any information on mind, i have learned the skills only hir upon my employment with this damned company…
even those things i must not learn, i was able to put it in mind…
i saw rampant violations to the system… well, i must apologize, it is not the system that we must condemn. it is in fact the people behind the system that must be burned to ashes… the system remains pure and clean had it not due to the people who drives their interest at the top of the vision for employees…
many times, they need to abuse the employees to make the bigboss proud… it is a choice between pro-management and pro-labor force…
if u r the boss, what wud u choose?
the company/management wud say it is due right to establish this policy… well the hell are u to say that… “the right to do something does not mean that doing it is RIGHT!!!”
i’ll be around to cast my comments every now and then inorder to enlighten the minds of the people who are mostly needed to act and join this endeavor…
and when the time comes… i’ll be around to support or to lead the group to show that we are professionals and that we hate to be treated like animals… come to think of it, we are educated individuals.. we must know when to begin and when to end…

WHY DON’T WE START TO INITIATE TO FORM A GROUP ADVOCATING EMPLOYEES’ RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES. LET US DESIGN OUR GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES IN EFFECT TO OUR VOLUNTARY MEMBERSHIP…
AM SURE AS WE INITIATED THIS ACT/CRUSADE… WE WILL RECRUIT MORE THAN EXPECTED…
HOWEVER, LET US BE VIGILANT IN SELECTING PEOPLE AROUND ARANETA BAKA SOME OF THE PEOPLE AREN’T TRUE TO THE IDEALS OF THIS ACT…
LET US ALSO FORM A GROUP CALLED CRUSADE… WHEN NO. OF EMPLOYEES JOINED IS ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE ENTIRE LABOR FORCE… THEN THAT WILL BE THE TIME WE MUST PROCEED TO OUR NEXT STEP… THE FOUNDATION OF “LABOR UNION”.
UPON EXISTENCE OF LABOR UNION, WE MUST POLISH OUR GUIDELINES AND EXISTING POLOICIES WHICH ARE IN COORDINATION WITH THE LABOR CODES…

tama nga ang inyong sinabi. kung kayat kailangang isagawa ito ng hindi nalalaman ng karamihan. let us communicate through our private e-mails.
let us not allow anybody to meddle this arrangements na pwede nating i-meet halfway…
dapat this 1st step will be the stronghold of the union we will be establishing…
and once we have ventured into the propriety and credibility of the first members of the group, then that wud be the time for us to recruit…
make observations within the premises of the working areas natin…
perhaps, it wud be better kung tau tau na lang muna ang magkaroon ng open forum.. not to mention its secrecy…
nobody is allowed to hear the our voices. only those who are enlightened and who are we may consider “the pillars of the unity in aci labor force…”
one thing in my mind. i’m kind of skeptical whom to approach since our identity is kept private and unpublished. i have used my pen name since at this point, there are observers who are steady to monitor the exchange of communication…
can u give any suggestion on how we can meet without anybody noticing….

I’m with you with your problems and I know what you all feel ‘coz I’d been there.
Even if you don’t have any union, you could still bind together to be a force within the company. All you have to do is lead and make sure that you speak and explain to your members the situation and that it could means laid-off for some or most or just the leaders. Ask them if they’re ready and willing because after all it’s all for their own benefits. You have to confront the owners or managers or the stockholders of the company and present them your grievances and or what you’re asking for. Give them sometimes to think and make decisions. At the same time, let them understand that in case your complaints are not being heard, you and all your members are willing to go in a strike that could cripple the business.
I did lead our department in a strike when I was still working there in the Philippines way back in 1973. We fight for their benefits (not mine because I’m part of the upper management). I saw the problems and I help solve it even though I knew that I could also be terminated. I am ready for all eventualities because I could feel their grief.
Please do the same thing and I could guarantee you that you will feel great because you help their cause.

i just knew the site recently from a friend, thanks heavens, there’s already this kind avenue wherein we could express our views and sentiments.
ako po ay isang manggagawa ng PPI, kung nais po ninyong lapitan ang isang regular na empleyado ng ng pizza hut, madali lang naman po kaming lapitan, wala po kasi kaming access sa inyo (ACI), kung sino sa inyo ang aming lalapitan, alam naman po ninyo ang aming kalagayan sa ibaba, kailangan din po naming mag-ingat para sa aming kapakanan.
